Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has alleged that Pakistan’s former Ambassador to US, Husain Haqqani is lobbying in Washington against Pakistan’s national interests.
Khawaja Asif while addressing a session in National Assembly said “Administration of United States is committed to provide us eight F-16s but some lobbies there are working against it. They are approaching lawmakers of US House of Representatives. Such people are Indian lobbyists. Islamabad’s ambassador to US is also working against Pakistan’s interests,”
Haqqani who remained Pakistan’s ambassador to the US during the last PPP government.
Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) leader, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, said “Haqqani was entrusted the task of defending Pakistan’s interests, therefore such statements are inappropriate… May be Mr. Asif has some proofs in this regards,” Qureshi said.
