LOS ANGELES, United States: “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is expected to lead the box office for a sixth straight weekend with about $22 million over the four-day holiday frame.
The Sony and Marvel release has crossed $900 million domestically. That makes it only the second film to reach the mark after “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” which holds the domestic record at $936 million.
The Destin Daniel Cretton-directed film has also surpassed $2.33 billion worldwide, third on the all-time global chart behind “Avatar” and “Avengers: Endgame.”
Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” also starring Tom Holland, is projected to finish second in its eighth weekend. The Universal release is expected to earn about $16.4 million, taking its domestic total to $588.1 million through Monday.

Among new releases, Paramount’s “By Any Means” is projected to earn about $7 million over four days. The true-life crime drama stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Mark Wahlberg.
A24’s “Onslaught,” directed by Adam Wingard and starring Adria Arjona, earned $782,000 on Friday. The film is expected to finish the weekend with about $2 million.

The weekend is tracking below the same holiday period a year earlier, when “Weapons” earned $48.7 million over four days.
