Apple’s dominance comes from its M-series chipsets, which power all current-generation Macs. In contrast, many Windows computers still use processors that aren’t AI-focused. However, Windows AI PC shipments grew by an impressive 127% sequentially, with Lenovo, Dell, and HP leading the segment. Lenovo’s Yoga Slim and ThinkPad laptops captured 6% of the market, slightly behind Dell’s 7% with its Inspiron, XPS, and Latitude models. HP secured an 8% share after launching its EliteBook and Omnibook Copilot+ PCs.

Nearly 9 million AI PCs shipped last quarter as Lenovo, HP and Dell all launched new devices.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X series chipsets, introduced in June 2024, had limited time to impact Q2 shipments. However, OEMs are expected to integrate these Arm chipsets into future products, promising better performance and efficiency than traditional x86 chips. Canalys’ Principal Analyst, Ishan Dutt, predicts that AI-capable PC shipments will gain momentum in the second half of 2024 as the market continues to evolve.
