Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s security risk has come under renewed scrutiny after a man reportedly ran toward him near Sandringham while he was walking his dog.
The former Duke of York left the scene in a car with his bodyguard before the man could reach him.
Royal biographer Andrew Lownie told Daily Mail editor Richard Eden the incident “does raise questions about his security.”
Lownie said King Charles funds Andrew’s protection officers, but argued that Britain must ensure he receives proper protection.
He said people should not be able to get close to Andrew on private land and added that any serious harm to him would reflect badly on the British state.
The security debate comes amid continued public anger over Andrew’s ties to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and scrutiny of King Charles’s handling of his brother.
