The Amjad Hussain oath ceremony as Gilgit-Baltistan chief minister-designate has been postponed due to Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s scheduling conflict..
Bilawal was due to attend the July 1 ceremony in Gilgit-Baltistan. The oath-taking has been deferred because of his unavoidable engagements. A new date is expected soon.
Consultations are also underway on the Gilgit-Baltistan cabinet, which PPP sources said will remain relatively small.
The cabinet is expected to include 12 ministers and 2 special assistants. The cabinet formation will likely take place in two phases.
Members elected on general seats are expected to join the cabinet in the first phase. Special assistants will be appointed later.
Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party members are also expected to be accommodated in the first phase. The inclusion of technocrats and lawmakers elected on reserved seats is likely to remain limited.
