Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has nominated Amjad Hussain Advocate as the party’s candidate for Gilgit-Baltistan chief minister, according to the PPP’s X account.
The party said Bilawal contacted Amjad Hussain by telephone after deciding to appoint him as chief minister. Amjad Hussain serves as PPP Gilgit-Baltistan president.
Bilawal also issued instructions to Amjad Hussain on government formation and the implementation of constitutional and economic rights for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, according to the source content.
The Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly session has been summoned for Sunday at 4:00 p.m. The session may face a slight delay.
The PPP is expected to formally announce its nominee after the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected members. The final names of the chief minister and speaker will be announced on June 22.

The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan has notified successful candidates in 21 of 24 constituencies. The PPP won the most seats with nine.
The notified results placed Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz second with six seats and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party third with four seats. Results in three constituencies have yet to be announced.
