ISLAMABAD: Authorities have transferred Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital.
The move follows a Supreme Court order directing authorities to take the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder to the hospital within two days.
Earlier, Islamabad Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi visited the hospital with senior officers to review security. Police, jail officials and Rangers also prepared security measures around the facility.
Authorities set up checkpoints and cleared vehicles from nearby roads. Officials had not confirmed the exact transfer time.

He urged supporters to stay away from the hospital and allow doctors to conduct the examination without disruption. A three-member Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Shahid Waheed ordered the medical transfer on August 18.
The court also directed authorities to form a medical board. Imran’s personal physician and Dr Uzma Khan may attend his assessment, according to the order.
If doctors admit Imran, authorities may declare his hospital room or ward a sub-jail and deploy jail staff there.
