Freely Hits 2 Million Users as Live Channels Reach 70

Freely reaching 2 million users is the latest milestone for the UK streaming television platform, which has also expanded to 70 live channels.

According to operator Everyone TV, the figure doubled from 1 million weekly users in less than eight months, after Freely had already grown from 500,000 to 1 million between September and December 2025.

Freely’s 70-channel lineup now matches the number of terrestrial free-to-air channels available through Freeview, although individual channel availability differs between the two services.

The platform, launched in April 2024, delivers channels from broadcasters including the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 over broadband rather than relying on a television aerial. It also offers more than 70,000 hours of on-demand programming.

Freely is available on compatible Smart TVs and through three standalone HDMI set-top boxes. The service requires a broadband connection of at least 10Mbps.

The Broadcast 2040+ campaign has raised concerns that a wider shift to internet-delivered television could impose broadband costs on households that currently rely on free-to-air terrestrial broadcasts.

Freeview terrestrial television remains guaranteed in the UK until 2034 under the framework.
