Pakistan Armed Forces Reaffirm Defence Pledge on August 14

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Armed Forces reaffirmed their resolve to defend national sovereignty in an August 14 message and pledged to uphold the Constitution.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released the joint statement for Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day.

Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir issued it with both service chiefs. Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf joined the message. Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu also signed it.

ISPR said the leaders honoured Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Pakistan’s founders and those who helped establish the country.

The message also recognised national martyrs, veterans, law enforcement personnel and other Pakistanis who served the nation.

“Pakistan’s strength lies in the unity and collective resolve of its people,” the military leadership said.

The services urged Pakistanis to follow the principles of Faith, Unity and Discipline. They also called for national cohesion, tolerance, peace and economic prosperity.
