NORTH CAROLINA, United States: Trump endorses Jennifer Balkcom as the Republican nominee for the state’s 11th Congressional District after Rep. Chuck Edwards ended his re-election bid.
President Donald Trump announced the endorsement Monday on Truth Social, calling Balkcom an “America First Patriot.”
Balkcom, a North Carolina state representative, thanked Trump on X. She said she would focus on rebuilding western North Carolina after Helene and lowering costs for families.
Trump had previously endorsed Edwards, who won the March 3 Republican primary. Edwards announced on August 5 that he would end his campaign.

His withdrawal followed a House Committee on Ethics report recommending censure. The committee said Edwards engaged in persistent inappropriate and unprofessional conduct toward two young female staffers.

Edwards denied that his conduct was intended as a sexual or romantic advance, according to the committee report cited in the supplied material.
