Authorities finalised security arrangements for the 9th Muharram across Pakistan, with police, Rangers and traffic officials deployed for processions and majalis.
In Karachi, the main 9th Muharram procession will start from Nishtar Park, follow its designated route and end at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar.
Authorities sealed roads leading to the procession route by placing containers at key access points. Officials said the step aims to support security and crowd management.
More than 5,000 police personnel have been deployed along the route. Rangers troops will also assist the police in maintaining law and order during the procession.
Markets and shops along the procession route have been sealed. Sharpshooters have also been deployed on high-rise buildings under the enhanced security plan.
