Director General (DG), Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) claimed that the Badaber attack planned, controlled from Afghanistan.

In a media briefing DG ISPR, Asim Bajwa said that based on intelligence information and intercept communication it is evident that today’s militant attack was conducted by a splinter Taliban group and it was planned and controlled in Afghanistan.

DG ISPR Maj-Gen Asim Bajwa told media that “Terrorists came from Afghanistan, where they had carried out planning of the attack,”

“Based on intelligence intercepts, I can confirm that terrorists were getting direction from their handlers in Afghanistan,” he said.

The DG ISPR said that intelligence agencies were still working on the issue and he would share more details in due time.

“We are in a state of war. We continue to get warnings on a daily basis. Such incidents can occur again,” he warned.

“Terrorists busted the main gate with grenades and split into two groups. One group then targeted worshipers during morning prayers,” he said.

He said that militants wearing constabulary uniform were contained within 50 meters of the base and then eliminated by the quick response force.

He confirmed the martyrdom of 29 people, 23 of them staffers of Pakistan Air Force (PAF), in the militant attack. Bajwa said  29 were wounded. Four civilians were also among the victims.

He also commended the response of police force, which had cordoned off the base.

To a question, he said that there was possibility that terrorists knew the exact location of the mosque as many civilians were working in the camp. “We will investigate who was their sympathisers and facilitators in Pakistan ,” Bajwa said.

Bajwa commended media for keeping the nation informed about the cowardly act of terrorism. “The whole nation should support the armed forces in Zarb-e-Azb Operation,” he said.

“Inshahullah, we will defeat them all comprehensively ,” Bajwa claimed.
