An alleged police ‘encounter’ in Muzaffargarh early morning today left at least 14 suspected terrorists dead, including chief of the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ).

The psychopathic mass murderer who used to gloat over scoring ‘centuries’ after launching attacks on shias that killed thousands finaly met his befitting end. writhing in a pool of his own blood along with his sons.

He had been arrested repeatedly but was always ‘honourably’ acquitted after witnesses who dared testify against him were murdered. Indeed he had been known to openly threaten judges hearing his cases.  He not only openly incited violence against the Shia sect but also openly celebrated attacks in which hundreds of innocents lost their lives. Attacks claimed by the LEJ.. Led by him.

Only some time back malik Ishaq had been provided police protection. And his demise makes it clear that now that Operation Zerb-e-Azb is being wrapped up the LEJ and similar terror outfits are firmly in the authorities cross hairs.

According to initial information, LeJ chief Malik Ishaq was being taken for identifying some weapons when the encounter took place. He, along with his two sons Usman and Haq Nawaz were among those killed in the suspected encounter. Ghulam Rasool of the LeJ  and his two sons were also killed.

The counter terrorism department (CTD) Punjab said that six members of the anti-terrorism force (ATF) were also injured in the alleged encounter.

The bodies of the dead and the injured officials were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Muzaffargarh. All gates of the hospice were sealed soon after.

On Saturday, Ishaq and his two sons had been detained under section 16 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).

The nabbed culprits were allegedly involved in planning, supporting sectarian killing and terrorism activities.
