Former president Asif Ali Zardari on Friday voiced support for his party senator Aitzaz Ahsan and asked Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan to personally offer apology over his remarks.
Nisar had criticized Ahsan on Thursday, alleging the senator was member of land mafia group in the country, an allegation that was widely condemned by the Pakistan People’s Party and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah.
Zardari, who is also co-chairman of the PPP, condemned the remarks of Nisar and demanded him to apologize.
The PPP leader also said that Ahsan is an asset of the party and he is proud of him.
Zardari said that such hate speeches should be avoided especially when there is already political tension going on in the country, saying “Leveling allegations must be avoided at this time”, he added.
