Actor Emily Osment said she requested an intimacy coordinator for kissing scenes with Young Sheldon co-star Montana Jordan because he was 18 when she joined the show at age 29.
Osment discussed the decision in Jessica Radloff’s new book, Young Sheldon: The (Juicier-Than-Meemaw’s-Brisket) Inside Story of the Hit Comedy, released on October 20. “My discomfort was that he was eighteen,” Osment said.
She joined the CBS comedy as Mandy McAllister in season five, episode 11. Jordan played her character’s love interest, Georgie Cooper, and was weeks away from turning 19.
Osment said she approached producer Tim Marx about bringing an intimacy coordinator onto the set. They couldn’t arrange a coordinator in time for their first kissing scene because the request came late in the production day.

One was present for later episodes as the characters’ relationship developed. Osment said she also wanted Jordan to know that he could request the same support if he felt uncomfortable.
Young Sheldon co-creator Steve Molaro said Osment had every right to make the request. Director Alex Reid acknowledged that the production had not previously considered hiring an intimacy coordinator for those scenes.

Osment later continued playing Mandy as a series regular. Young Sheldon ended in May 2024 after seven seasons. She and Jordan now star in sequel series Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
