A US citizen was stopped from boarding a flight after a pistol and some rounds were recovered from his possession at Islamabad’s Benazir International Airport earlier today.
Airport Security Force (ASF) personnel found a pistol and six to seven rounds of ammunition during checking. He was immediately taken into custody for probe.
This is 2nd US citizen arrested by the AFP over few months.
ASF officials said the US citizen was heading to a Middle East country, however they did not name the country. If he fails to produce any evidence or permit for carrying a weapon, he will be handed over to police subsequently, they added.
The US citizen was identified as William Jones.
