The names of witnesses set to testify against the former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief in the notorious cipher case have been revealed.

Details indicate a comprehensive list of 28 witnesses featuring notable personalities such as Asad Majeed, Aftab Akbar Durrani, Yousaf Naseem Khokar, Muhammad Azam Khan, and Dr. Haseeb Bin Aziz. Including technical experts from the cipher crime wing in Islamabad highlights the case’s complexity and the detailed investigation underway.

Startling Revelations and Court Proceedings

In a twist, Azam Khan, the former principal secretary, made headlines claiming that the PTI chief orchestrated a targeted plan against the Pakistan army, leveraging US ciphers for political manoeuvring. These developments added a new dimension to the case, indicating high-level involvement and potential repercussions for several officials.

Furthermore, court proceedings have seen their share of drama. Under Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain, the special court deferred the indictment of key political figures amidst growing tension and national interest in the outcomes. The case, marked by unexpected revelations and high-profile names, continues within Adiala Jail’s confines, ensuring heightened security and confidentiality.

Implications of the Cipher Case

Initially registered under the stringent Official Secrets Act, the cypher case accuses former prime minister Imran Khan and others of manipulating classified diplomatic communications, jeopardizing state security. The FIR underscores the gravity of the accusations, alleging misuse of sensitive information for ‘nefarious purposes’ and political survival, which has shaken the political landscape.

As the case unfolds, the implications for those involved, including high-ranking officials like former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, are dire, with the potential to redefine political careers and legacy. The nation now watches as justice seeks to untangle this web of secrecy and alleged betrayal.
