KARACHI, Sindh: A Karachi DHA police inquiry has been ordered after CCTV footage appeared to show uniformed personnel present during a violent apartment dispute in Phase 6, South, DIG Syed Asad Raza said on Saturday.
The footage from a building in Khayaban-e-Bukhari shows a woman carrying a dumbbell and striking another woman. It also appears to show two people in police-style uniforms restraining the woman being attacked.
Later, a man in plain clothes is seen using a weapon to damage a CCTV camera. The footage appears to show one of the uniformed individuals handing him the weapon. Police have not yet publicly established the identities or responsibility of everyone shown.
Raza said both sides had made allegations against each other. He directed investigators to examine the case impartially and on merit.

An initial first information report (FIR) was registered at Darakhshan Police Station at 1:40 a.m. on August 21 after a complaint stemming from an alleged parking dispute.

The FIR included assault, intimidation, insult and theft-related provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code. However, Raza said Section 382, linked to allegations that gold jewellery was taken, had since been removed because the matter appeared to involve assault.
Investigators have not yet submitted the case challan, according to police. The inquiry will also examine whether police personnel acted improperly and whether any bias affected the original registration or investigation of the case.
