The USS Gerald R. Ford has left the Middle East after taking part in operations against Iran, local media reported Friday, citing a US official.
The departure leaves two United States aircraft carriers in the region: the USS Abraham Lincoln and the USS George H.W. Bush.
The Ford had been at sea for more than 10 months, breaking the post-Vietnam War record for a US aircraft carrier deployment.
The carrier’s extended mission came during heightened US-Iran tensions and sustained American naval operations in the region.
The United States Navy said a fire broke out in Ford’s main laundry spaces on March 12, injuring two sailors aboard the ship.

The Navy expects the carrier to return for maintenance and crew rotation after its extended deployment.
