Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the US-Iran peace deal had been signed electronically by both sides, according to Iran’s state broadcaster.
Baghaei said negotiating teams would meet in Geneva on Friday. He said there would be no physical signing ceremony in Switzerland because the document had already been signed digitally.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said in a post on X that the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding” had been signed electronically by the United States and Iran. He said the agreement was also endorsed by Pakistan as a mediator.
Sharif said the signing showed both sides’ commitment to a diplomatic resolution. He said the memorandum would enter into force immediately.
Under the first step cited by Sharif, Iran would reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and the United States would lift its naval blockade. The strait remains a key route for global oil and gas shipments.

Trump also threatened to “bomb the hell out of” Iran if Tehran failed to comply with the memorandum. US officials said a proposed $300 billion fund for Iran would include contributions from neighbouring countries.
Iran also said regional partners would invest $300 billion in the country, with part of the funding marked for reconstruction.
