The United States carried out fresh airstrikes in southern Iran against drone-launch facilities, missile sites and vessels near the Strait of Hormuz.
US Central Command said this in a statement, the strikes were self-defence operations aimed at protecting American troops from threats posed by Iranian forces.
The military said the targets included Iranian vessels allegedly attempting to lay naval mines near the strategic waterway.
CENTCOM spokesperson Captain Timothy Hawkins said US forces continued to act with restraint despite regional tensions and a fragile ceasefire.

CNN reported that the operation followed US assessments. Those assessments found that Iranian military activity posed a direct threat to American troops and naval assets in the area.
The White House also denied an Iranian state TV report that cited a draft of an initial, unofficial framework for a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States. It called the reported memorandum “a complete fabrication.”
Iran, the United States, and mediator Pakistan said earlier this month that progress had been made in talks. These talks are aimed at ending nearly three months of war.
