The University of Karachi (KU) plans to launch a four-year degree program in Artificial Intelligence (AI) within its Department of Computer Science.
This proposal for the AI program will be approved at the Academic Council meeting on December 3, which Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi will chair.
The program has received the green light from the Faculty of Science and the Department’s Board of Studies and awaits final approval from the Academic Council. Following this, admissions will open for the next academic session.
Details regarding admission criteria and seat availability are still being finalized. The program proposal has undergone thorough review by the Board of Faculty before it is submitted for Academic Council approval.
Dr. Sadiq Ali Khan, the Department of Computer Science Chairman, mentioned that the AI curriculum adheres to the National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC) standards.
Under Vice Chancellor KU’s direction, two new interactive smart classrooms are nearing completion within the department. These classrooms will support both educational and technical workshops.
It is important to note that the Department of Computer Science at KU already offers four-year BS degrees in Software Engineering and Computer Science.
