Senator Faisal Vawda attributed the negative usage of social media predominantly to “spoiled rich kids” or “disgruntled in-laws,” often hinting at their possible unemployment as a factor in such behaviour.
During an appearance on the television program “Roobaroo” on Aaj News, Vawda discussed the dual nature of social media impact and argued that not every criticism warrants a response. He suggested that true accountability should begin within the highest ranks, specifically with the Prime Minister addressing issues concerning his relatives.
Vawda touched on the broader theme of accountability and justice in the country. He conveyed optimism about an impending era where justice would be administered impartially, irrespective of social or political status. However, he was critical of the current state of the justice system, noting that the country’s progression would be hindered without substantial reforms. He also voiced concerns over the judiciary’s tendency to issue stays on government initiatives that he deemed beneficial while allegedly overlooking more critical and costly issues.
Further elaborating on the political landscape, Vawda shared insights into interactions involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan, revealing that post the 2018 regime change, two judges had reassured Khan about the potential withdrawal of his legal cases. He also accused certain factions of orchestrating the 2014 sit-in to influence the appointment of their preferred candidate as Army Chief. Throughout various political crises, Vawda affirmed his unwavering support for Imran Khan.
Addressing the May 9 incidents, Vawda condemned the violence and recommended legal reforms to handle such situations better. He critiqued certain PTI leaders for allegedly preferring to see Imran Khan remain incarcerated to potentially advance their agendas. He also commended Mohsin Naqvi for his effectiveness, underscoring that power should be exercised responsibly by those in authority.
On a personal note, Vawda expressed his disagreements with Imran Khan over handling cases against political adversaries, such as Rana Sanaullah, which he believed were unjust. He also spoke highly of President Zardari, recognizing him as a senior political figure and appreciating their interactions.
In his concluding remarks, Vawda highlighted the crucial role of the military in securing national interests and sternly condemned any actions that disrespect their sacrifices, underscoring the importance of upholding dignity towards national institutions.
