In a separate road accident on Sunday, a speeding bus carrying picnickers from Karachi to Keenjhar Lake overturned near Chhato Chand in Thatta, Sindh. Officials said the Thatta crash injured 20 people, including women and children.
Eyewitnesses said reckless driving caused the Thatta bus to go out of control and overturn. Local residents shifted the injured to Civil Hospital Thatta, while some critically injured passengers were moved to Karachi.
Relatives of the injured complained that patients were sent to Karachi in private vehicles because Rescue 1122 ambulances were unavailable at Civil Hospital Thatta. They also said some injured passengers waited more than two hours for medical attention.
Police launched an inquiry into the Thatta incident after a video showed the bus overturning because of overspeeding.
