Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Secretary Home and Tribal Affairs Department was directed to submit his report in a case that has challenged the suspension of arms supply to other provinces from K-P.
The order was issued by a division bench of Justice Nisar Hussain Khan and Justice Musarrat Hilali while hearing a writ petition filed by a company called Mushtariqa Hunting and Sporting Arms through its counsel Advocate Sadiq Ali.
The petitioner says many registered companies in K-P deal in arms through legal procedures and also supply them to other provinces. Sadiq Ali told the bench that the petitioner submitted a permission application to the home department about eight months ago, but it is yet to be issued. He added that the district commissioner and DPO have issued no-objection certificates, but the department is still not allowing them to supply arms to other provinces. The company has alleged that it faces millions of rupees worth of loss every month as a result.
After hearing the arguments, the bench issued orders to the home secretary to submit his report regarding the case.
It is pertinent to note that legal arms suppliers all over the country have been effected including security agencies as well as law abiding citizens who possess licenses but cannot procure weapons.
