Steve Kerr’s tenure with the Golden State Warriors will continue after the team agreed to a new two-year contract with its head coach, his agency, Priority Sports, said Saturday.
The Warriors moved before the NBA Playoffs ended as the franchise prepared for possible changes ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season. Golden State had missed the Western Conference Finals for a fourth straight year and failed to reach the playoffs in two of the past three seasons.
Kerr’s return removes one major uncertainty after speculation over whether he could leave following 12 seasons in charge. Priority Sports confirmed the new two-year agreement, keeping him with the Bay Area franchise.
The decision also shifts attention toward Stephen Curry, whose future remains a central question for Golden State. Curry’s long relationship with Kerr could encourage him to stay after the coach’s contract decision.
Draymond Green’s role remains less clear as the Warriors consider their roster direction for next season. Kerr has a strong relationship with Green and could push to keep him, though Golden State may still add new faces around Curry.
