Allegations have surfaced that the Sindh Police protected Natasha Danish, who is implicated in a serious traffic accident on Karachi’s Karsaz Road, shielding her from due legal consequences.
Natasha Danish, identified as a judge’s relative and daughter-in-law of the influential Gul Ahmad Textile family, is accused of driving under the influence and fatally striking five individuals. Following the incident, rather than proceeding with an arrest, the police admitted her to Jinnah Hospital, citing mental health concerns.
The response of the police has raised suspicions of preferential treatment. It took the officers one hour and thirty minutes to transport Natasha to the hospital, which typically requires only twenty minutes. Instead of being evaluated by a medical-legal officer (MLO) at the hospital as the standard procedure for such incidents dictates, she was seen by a psychiatrist. Subsequently, a certificate declaring her mental imbalance was issued and presented in court by her lawyer.

Karachi’s police move has been criticized as an apparent attempt to mitigate her legal responsibility. At Jinnah Hospital, Dr. Ghoni Lal from the Department of Psychiatry reported that she required a full psychiatric evaluation. Given the timing and circumstances under which it was made, this decision has been met with scepticism from various quarters, including the police and the judiciary.
Notably, just five months before the accident, Natasha reportedly attended a board of directors meeting, casting further doubt on the sudden claims of her mental distress.
