The Excise and Taxation Minister of Sindh, Sharjeel Memon, has formed a task force to address the growing issue of drug use, particularly “ice,” in educational institutions.
Sharjeel Inam Memon, the Sindh Minister for Information, Mass Transit, and Narcotics, pledged to undertake robust measures to address the drug crisis and safeguard the youth from its adverse impacts.
Memon expressed grave concerns about the drug problem and mandated decisive measures to combat it. He instructed the Secretary of Excise and the DIG Hyderabad to aggressively pursue drug dealers and keep the Secretary of Information Sindh updated on their progress.
He also tasked the Information Secretary with launching an anti-narcotics campaign shortly.
Emphasizing the need for diligent investigations, Memon established a task force composed of esteemed officers.
Last month, the Sindh government prepared for a major crackdown on drugs throughout the province.
In a recent high-level meeting in Karachi, chaired by Memon, the necessity of confronting the drug crisis was underscored. He announced the formation of specialist teams to ensure the effectiveness of the upcoming crackdown.
Memon declared an imminent extensive crackdown on drugs and traffickers, aiming to protect the youth from drug influence.
He also stated that officers who perform well in this initiative would receive awards and honours, recognizing their efforts and commitment.
Memon assured that daily actions would be taken to eliminate drugs from the province. He highlighted the importance of enhancing youth awareness alongside the crackdown.
