Pakistani actor Sanam Saeed said women should claim their rights as basic human and professional rights rather than “playing the woman card” in debates over equality.
Saeed made the remarks during a recent conversation on women’s rights and workplace equality. She said Pakistan’s women’s rights movement still faces hurdles as public debate often shifts from education, inheritance, honour killings and equal pay to minor controversies.
The actor said women should not argue that they deserve a right only because they are women. Instead, she said they should frame the issue as a right owed to every individual in society and the workplace.

Saeed also reflected on her personal and professional life. She said the birth of her son brought positive changes and was followed by major drama successes and her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival 2026.
Earlier this month, Saeed wrapped her Cannes 2026 appearance with a farewell post on Instagram. She shared a carousel of images in a grey blazer and black stockings and thanked followers for their “love, warmth and feels.”
The Express Tribune reported that Saeed made her Cannes Film Festival 2026 debut as part of an honorary delegation celebrating South Asian women in cinema and the arts.
