Pakistani actor Sanam Saeed made her Cannes Film Festival 2026 debut, saying she walked as a South Asian woman representing Pakistan, its heritage and craft.
Saeed shared the remarks on Instagram after appearing at the 79th Cannes Film Festival in traditional attire.
The actor said she did not attend as a brand ambassador or as part of a film team. She said she represented “the women of Pakistan,” including those who came before and those who work behind the scenes.
Her Cannes appearance drew attention for a classic South Asian outfit that combined traditional craft with a modern touch.
Saeed also praised the Pakistani designer behind the look in her Instagram comments.
Actor Mohib Mirza applauded his wife’s appearance at the global film gathering, saying her purpose made him proud.
Saeed dedicated the appearance to late veteran actor Shamim Ara, honouring her role in opening doors for women in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.
