In February 2024, Samsung launched the Galaxy XCover 7 in India, boasting military-grade (MIL-STD-810H) durability and an IP68 dust and water resistance rating.
Reports now suggest that Samsung is developing a Pro version of this rugged smartphone, although the company has not yet confirmed its existence. A recent leak indicates that a Qualcomm chipset may power the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro.
Android Authority recently discovered references to a Galaxy XCover 7 Pro model in the source code, including a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 (SM7635) chip, which debuted in August of the previous year.
The chipset would likely make the new model significantly faster than the current Galaxy XCover 7, which features an unspecified octa-core 6nm processor. While Samsung has not disclosed the chipset model for the existing XCover 7, it is widely believed to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ SoC.
The Galaxy XCover 7 Pro is expected to offer upgrades such as increased RAM and possibly enhanced camera capabilities compared to its predecessor. The existing Galaxy XCover 7 includes a 6.6-inch full-HD (1,080 x 2,408 pixels) TFT display with a 60Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. It features a 50-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. The smartphone is designed to withstand drops and bumps, as evidenced by its MIL-STD-810H certification, and comes with a replaceable 4,050mAh battery.
As details continue to emerge, the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro is shaping to be a robust addition to Samsung’s rugged device lineup, appealing to users looking for durable and powerful smartphone options.
