Actor Ryan Gosling’s “Ghost Rider” will hit theatres on July 28, 2028, as Marvel Studios adds the superhero film to its expanding 2028 release calendar.
Disney announced the date as part of several release updates following its D23 fan event. Marvel has also scheduled an untitled “X-Men” reboot for May 5, 2028, followed by “Black Panther 3” on December 15.
Marvel confirmed Gosling as Ghost Rider during its Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con in July. The studio also named “Deadpool & Wolverine” filmmaker Shawn Levy as director.
Gosling said at Comic-Con that Ghost Rider was a character he had long wanted to play. He also credited Levy as his preferred director for the project.
The pair developed the idea while working together on “Star Wars: Starfighter,” which is scheduled for release on May 28, 2027. “Starfighter” writer Jonathan Tropper will also write the “Ghost Rider” screenplay, with production planned for 2027.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has not confirmed which incarnation of Ghost Rider Gosling will portray. Fan speculation has focused on Johnny Blaze, but Marvel has made no official announcement about the character’s identity.
Nicolas Cage previously played Johnny Blaze in two Sony “Ghost Rider” films. Gabriel Luna later portrayed Robbie Reyes in Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” while a planned Hulu spinoff featuring Luna was cancelled in 2019.
