Houstan: Cristiano Ronaldo set a Ronaldo World Cup record by scoring twice as Portugal beat Uzbekistan 4-0 in their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group K match on Tuesday.
Ronaldo opened the scoring in the sixth minute at NRG Stadium after getting on the end of a Joao Cancelo cross. The goal made him the first player to score at six World Cups.
The 41-year-old added Portugal’s third goal before halftime after Bruno Fernandes set him up. Nuno Mendes also scored in the first half as Portugal took control after its opening 1-1 draw against the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The Guardian reported that Portugal completed the win with a second-half own goal by Uzbekistan goalkeeper Utkir Nematov. It said Uzbekistan had an early goal ruled out before Portugal built its lead.
FIFA marked the record on X, saying Ronaldo was the first man to score at six FIFA World Cup tournaments. He also moved past Eusebio to become Portugal’s highest World Cup scorer with 10 goals.
Ronaldo has now scored at every World Cup from 2006 to 2026. His previous tournament goals came in Germany, South Africa, Brazil, Russia and Qatar.
