Punjab’s paperless government system will begin on July 1, 2026, as all departments and district offices move official work to a digital platform.
The decision was announced at a conference of provincial secretaries chaired by the Chief Secretary of Punjab at the Civil Secretariat in Lahore.
The chief secretary directed all provincial secretaries to connect government departments and field offices with the e-Filing and Office Automation System, known as e-FOAS.
From the start of the next financial year, all field offices will be required to conduct official correspondence and administrative work only through the digital system.
The chief secretary said the shift from paper-based files to e-FOAS reflected the Punjab government’s push to expand information technology in public administration.
He said digitalisation had already saved the public exchequer billions of rupees annually.
