ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan denied reports of Imran Khan’s hospitalisation on Saturday, saying the jailed former prime minister had not spent several days receiving treatment in a prison hospital.
In an August 1 statement on X, Gohar also rejected claims that the PTI founder had high blood pressure or another illness. He said he issued the clarification after checking with relevant parties and informing Khan’s family.
The statement addressed reports of a continuing admission inside Adiala Jail. It did not mean Khan had received no hospital treatment during his imprisonment. He has previously been taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences for eye procedures and returned to jail after treatment.
Gohar called for proper medical care and the release of Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi. The PTI maintains that both have been imprisoned unjustly, while their convictions remain subject to legal proceedings.

The clarification followed the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s order on July 31 to expedite the hearing of Khan’s appeal. The petition seeks his transfer to Shifa International Hospital and access to his family, lawyers and personal physicians.
Gohar also said authorities took Bushra Bibi from Adiala Jail to a hospital for an eye examination on Tuesday night and returned her after the check-up. Separate reporting identified the facility as Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital in Islamabad.
