Newly elected Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) will be sworn in during the Punjab Assembly’s inaugural session, as convened by Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman after the February 8 general elections.
The oath-taking ceremony, led by Punjab Assembly Speaker Sabatin Khan, will formally introduce the elected representatives into the legislature.
Additionally, the assembly will announce the schedule for electing the new speaker and deputy speaker.
To ensure safety, extensive security preparations are in effect, with over 500 police officers stationed around the assembly building, supported by APCs, water cannon vehicles, and the Anti-Riots Dolphin Force.
PML-N’s Ata Tarar, speaking near the assembly, highlighted the party’s mandate from Punjab’s voters on February 8. With reserved seats allocated, PML-N’s MPA count has risen to 210, signalling a forthcoming era of governance under Maryam Nawaz’s leadership.
