Sher Afzal Marwat, a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has stirred a new controversy after a video of him hitting a person at a Peshawar rally circulated widely online.
In the footage, amidst a crowd of party workers, Marwat is seen striking a man who was following him closely.
Marwat later explained that the individual in the video was his “personal guard,” whom he slapped for pushing away party workers. He justified the slap by stating the guard was attempting to usher him into a car for safety reasons, given the terrorism threat, and was keeping the workers at a distance.
Marwat emphasized that he had instructed the guard against pulling him away. This incident isn’t Marwat’s first physical altercation; he previously engaged in a public scuffle with PML-N Senator Afnan Ullah Khan on live television following a verbal exchange that escalated into physical violence, which ended with intervention from the show’s crew.
Following the televised brawl, Senator Khan filed a first information report (FIR) against Marwat.
