Pakistan will launch its first Pakistan Panda Bond in Beijing with a US$250 million inaugural issuance, the Ministry of Finance said.
Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb left for China on Wednesday to attend the issuance ceremony.
The ministry said the bond marks Pakistan’s first direct access to China’s domestic capital market.
The inaugural issue forms part of a US$1 billion Panda Bond programme.
The Asian Development Bank and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank support the issuance, according to the ministry.
Officials said Pakistan wants to diversify funding sources and strengthen investor confidence.
The ceremony will include Chinese financial institutions, investors and international organisations.
Aurangzeb will brief investors on Pakistan’s economic recovery, reforms and investment opportunities.
