Pakistan Tehtreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi chapter filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Sir Syed Town Police Station against Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PML-N) senior leader Rana Sanaullah, accusing him of issuing “death threats” to ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Following Sanaullah’s comments in interviews with local TV channels, where he described Khan’s political role as a “problem,” interpreted by PTI as advocating for Khan’s assassination.
Sanaullah responded to the accusations, explaining his reference to Khan’s “political existence” and denying any threats against Khan’s life. He suggested that the controversy would be resolved if Khan exited politics or abandoned his accusatory stance towards others.
PTI Karachi Vice President Tehmas Ali formally lodged an FIR against Sanaullah for his alleged threats on a TV broadcast. However, police officials declined to accept the application, citing jurisdictional issues and advised PTI representatives to seek a more appropriate forum.
In Islamabad, PTI leader Raoof Hasan announced during a press conference that the party’s core committee resolved to press charges against both Sanaullah and Marriyum Aurangzeb for their threats against Khan.
Despite their initial attempt being rebuffed by the police, Hasan declared the party’s intention to persist in filing complaints across various stations and, if necessary, to escalate the matter to court. He also voiced concerns over the slow judicial proceedings involving Khan and called for the Islamabad High Court’s chief justice to recuse himself from related cases.
