PTI Dominates Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tehsil Council Elections

In by-elections for the Chairmanship of Tehsil Councils across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party secured a significant victory, capturing five of the six contested seats and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate in Drazinda, D.I. Khan district, by a margin of 400 votes.

In the Tehsil Katlang of Mardan district, the PTI-backed independent candidate Riaz Khan led with 23,573 votes, outpacing his nearest rival, PPP’s Haider Ali Advocate, who garnered 20,535 votes, according to unofficial preliminary results.

In the Tehsil Dasu of Upper Kohistan district, the PTI candidate emerged victorious with 3,130 votes, while the independent candidate Syed Jamal followed with 2,440 votes.

Meanwhile, in Tehsil Drazinda, D.I. Khan district, PPP’s Humayun Khan won the chairmanship with 8,387 votes, narrowly defeating independent candidate Haider Mian Khel, who received 7,888 votes.

In Tehsil Tangi of Charsadda district, with results reported from 160 of 183 polling stations, PTI’s Fazal Amin claimed victory with 12,733 votes. Close contenders included Qaumi Watan Party’s Ibrahim Mehmood with 11,880 votes and Mazdoor Kisan Party’s Fayaz Salar with 8,462 votes.

In the Tehsil Drosh of the Chitral district, PTI candidate Syed Farid Ahmed Khan was declared the winner with 11,300 votes.

Finally, in Tehsil Balambat of Lower Dir district, PTI’s Shakir Zeb took the lead with 21,281 votes, based on unofficial results from 89 out of 99 polling stations. Jamaat-e-Islami’s Anwaruddin Advocate came in second with 16,755 votes.
