PARIS, France: French prosecutors opened an investigation into the death of Daniel Siad. The 69-year-old modelling scout was found unresponsive at his home in Colombes on Monday evening.

The Nanterre prosecutor’s office said authorities had launched an inquiry to determine the cause of death and ordered an autopsy. Judicial police in Hauts-de-Seine are handling the investigation.

A 28-year-old housemate found Siad lying in the kitchen and alerted neighbours, according to Le Parisien. A neighbour performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but emergency personnel could not revive him.

French media cited a possible cardiac arrest. However, prosecutors had not established an official cause of death at the time of publication.

Siad’s name appeared more than 2,000 times in records connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, according to French reporting. The United States Department of Justice released extensive Epstein-related files earlier in 2026.

Several women had filed complaints against Siad in France, alleging sexual violence and involvement in human trafficking. In February, former Swedish model Ebba Karlsson filed a complaint, accusing him of rape and trafficking. The allegations had not resulted in a conviction.

Siad denied the allegations and rejected claims that he knowingly participated in Epstein’s crimes. He had said he was willing to be questioned by French investigators. However, he had not been formally heard before his death.
