Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan urged the federal government on Tuesday to provide political space to the opposition and reduce political tensions.
Speaking to the media, Gohar said suppressing political voices would not improve the country’s situation. He said Pakistan needed a normalised political environment for stability and development.
Gohar said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would decide on the provincial budget in line with the Constitution and the law. He said PTI founder Imran Khan had always supported higher allocations for health and education.
The PTI chairman criticised restrictions on meetings with Imran Khan at Adiala Jail. He called the restrictions inhumane and said they violated fundamental rights.

Gohar said party leaders had not been informed about Imran Khan’s fifth eye procedure at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences. He demanded that PTI leaders be allowed to meet him on the designated visitation day.
He said PTI had always placed national interest first. “Pakistan comes first, politics later,” Gohar said.
His remarks came after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif renewed a dialogue offer to the opposition in the National Assembly on Saturday. Shehbaz said opposition members were “our brothers” and invited them to sit together in the larger national interest.
The prime minister said he had previously proposed a Charter of Economy during his tenure as opposition leader. He said it was “never too late” for political forces to work together for stability and development.
