Following Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha of Rawalpindi’s assertion of vote manipulation in the February 8 polls, PTI’s Barrister Gohar Ali Khan called for a judicial inquiry into these claims. Gohar, alongside Omar Ayub Khan in Islamabad, emphasized Chatha’s moral stance and prompted his disclosure. Chatha, resigning due to the electoral discrepancies observed on February 8, confessed to an undue alteration of election outcomes. Amidst societal and diaspora pressures, he even considered suicide, revealing a manipulated victory for 13 candidates.
Gohar advocates for a judicial review to elucidate the alleged electoral distortions, clarifying that their appeal does not extend to the Chief Justice’s resignation but focuses on investigating Chatha’s allegations. Furthermore, Gohar critiqued the Election Commission for withholding actual voting outcomes, asserting PTI’s victory across 180 seats in various regions despite alleged obstructions in Sindh and discrepancies in vote counting documentation.
In the same briefing, Omar Ayub highlighted the challenges PTI faces, including unlawful suppression and intimidation. He remained optimistic about PTI’s governmental prospects, calling on the ECP to acknowledge the party’s 180 victors. Omar dismissed any coalition talks with major political factions, emphasizing PTI’s stand-alone strategy.
