The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has launched its process for PPP Gilgit-Baltistan election tickets, beginning candidate interviews ahead of the June 7, 2026, general elections. The party’s parliamentary board held sessions with applicants from Gilgit, Diamer, and Ghizer districts.
The interviews were chaired by senior PPP leader Faryal Talpur, with top party officials present to evaluate potential candidates for the upcoming constituency.
The parliamentary board includes senior leaders such as Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, Nadeem Afzal Chan, and former Gilgit-Baltistan governor Qamar Zaman Kaira.
During the sessions, candidates presented their political background, constituency outreach, and contributions to the party. Each applicant was assessed individually to gauge grassroots support and organisational strength.
PPP leaders said the large number of applicants reflects growing interest in the party across Gilgit-Baltistan. They described the response as a sign of organisational depth ahead of the elections.
Speaking during the process, Faryal Talpur said the Pakistan People’s Party remains committed to representing the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
She pointed to past initiatives, including the Gilgit-Baltistan Empowerment and Self-Governance Order 2009, which expanded administrative authority and strengthened local governance.
The ongoing PPP Gilgit-Baltistan election ticket process is part of broader preparations led by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
