On July 29, 2025, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) announced a Cadet Pilot Program to recruit 24 new pilots. This initiative aims to address the shortage of cockpit crew and strengthen PIA’s operational capacity as the airline restores its international routes, particularly to Europe and the UK. Additionally, PIA is hiring 20 experienced commercial pilots to meet immediate staffing demands.

The Cadet Pilot Program offers a two-year contract to selected candidates, providing an opportunity to launch their careers at PIA. Applicants must hold a valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL) from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and have at least 200 flying hours. A $15,000 financial bond ensures candidates’ commitment to airline protocols.

Interested candidates must submit applications to PIA’s HR department within 15 days of the announcement. This recruitment follows a previous call for First Officer positions, which attracted nearly 300 applicants, reflecting strong interest in aviation careers in Pakistan.

PIA’s recruitment drive supports its broader plan to restore its fleet and resume direct flights to cities such as Manchester, London, and Paris, using Boeing 777 aircraft. The cadet program is critical for long-term growth, ensuring a steady pipeline of skilled pilots to enhance service quality. The addition of experienced pilots addresses immediate operational needs, particularly as PIA prepares for its European routes.

This initiative aligns with global aviation trends, as seen with Emirates Airlines’ recent recruitment of cabin crew for 2025. Emirates, a leading carrier, is expanding its team to support international growth, inviting service-oriented candidates worldwide. PIA’s efforts mirror this focus on talent acquisition to meet rising demand.
