AP reported that three female students were killed and seven others were injured. Five people were injured, so authorities had not fully reconciled casualty figures in early accounts.
Additional police units were deployed around San Jose National High School, which has more than 1,500 students. The Philippine National Police urged the public to remain calm, avoid sharing unverified information and cooperate with authorities.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered increased school security and a full investigation, AP reported. Police also recovered firearms at the scene and were handling the suspects under juvenile and child protection procedures.
Firearm-related crimes remain common in the Philippines because of widespread unlicensed weapons, but school attacks are uncommon. In July 2022, a gunman killed three people during a graduation ceremony at Ateneo de Manila University’s law school in Quezon City.
