Petrol price in Pakistan rose to Rs414.78 per litre after the federal government increased petrol and high-speed diesel rates by nearly Rs15 each, the Petroleum Division said Friday.
The Petroleum Division said the new fuel prices will take effect from May 9 under the latest weekly revision.
Petrol climbed from Rs399.86 to Rs414.78 per litre, while high-speed diesel rose from Rs399.58 to Rs414.58 per litre.
The increase marks the third straight fuel price hike, following the government’s Rs33.28 increase in petrol and Rs46.16 in diesel over the previous two weeks.
The federal government has reviewed petroleum prices every Friday night amid global oil market volatility linked to the US-Iran conflict.
Brent crude futures rose $1.41, or 1.41%, to $101.47 a barrel at 0123 GMT on Friday, while West Texas Intermediate gained $1.12, or 1.18%, to $95.93 a barrel.
The global rise to renewed fighting between the United States and Iran, and uncertainty over reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
Petrol fuels small vehicles, rickshaws and two-wheelers, making the increase relevant for commuters and household transport budgets.
High-speed diesel powers trucks, buses, trains and agricultural machinery, which can feed into transport costs and food prices.
