Pakistan cut petrol and high-speed diesel prices by Rs22 per litre each, with the new rates taking effect from May 30 for one week, the Petroleum Division said.
Petrol now costs Rs381.78 per litre, down from Rs403.78. High-speed diesel now costs Rs380.78 per litre, down from Rs402.78, according to the official notification.
The Prime Minister’s Office said the federal government approved the reduction as public relief on the third day of Eid ul Adha.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said in a statement on X that providing relief to the public remained among his top priorities.
The PMO said the federal government had also reduced petrol and diesel prices last week. It added that fuel subsidies had supported public and goods transport, as well as motorcycle and rickshaw users.
The statement said the prime minister had earlier provided a subsidy of more than Rs130 per litre during the global oil crisis to prevent a domestic fuel price increase.
