Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), visited Karachi’s National Stadium today to oversee the upgrade work in preparation for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy 2025, which Pakistan will host next year.
With top international teams expected, the PCB ensures that the stadium adheres to international standards and offers a great experience for fans. During his inspection, Naqvi ordered the relocation of the stadium’s electronic screen to a higher position to enhance spectator visibility. Additionally, he directed that the parking area be moved closer to the stadium to facilitate easier access for fans.
To keep the project on track, Naqvi instructed the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) to accelerate their efforts, underscoring the importance of having the stadium ready ahead of schedule.
FWO officials updated Naqvi on the progress in the presence of Adviser Aamir Mir and National Stadium Manager Arshad Khan. The PCB aims to complete the upgrades by the end of December, setting the stage for a premier event.
Recently, ICC sources expressed satisfaction with the PCB’s detailed presentation on the tournament’s arrangements. The event is scheduled from February 19 to March 9, 2025, though the Indian cricket team’s participation is uncertain. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is seeking government approval for the visit.
