The Pakistani Veteran actor Javed Kodu passed away early Sunday morning at 63.
Javed Kodu, a performer renowned for his comedic brilliance and trailblazing career despite physical challenges, succumbed to a prolonged illness after four decades of bringing laughter to audiences nationwide.
Kodu’s funeral services will be held at his Singhpura residence, with burial following at the local graveyard. His remarkable journey in show business began in 1981 with the stage play “Sode Baaz” and flourished through more than 150 Punjabi and Urdu films alongside countless theatrical productions. The actor, whose stage name was affectionately bestowed by comedy legend Akhtar Hussain Albela, symbolised perseverance in Pakistan’s entertainment landscape.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif led national tributes, acknowledging Kodu’s irreplaceable contributions to Pakistani arts. In an official statement, the PM noted how the actor’s talent transcended physical limitations, creating a legacy that “filled the nation’s heart with joy.” The premier extended heartfelt condolences to Kodu’s family, including his son Shera, who continues the artistic tradition of the popular show Mazaaq Raat.
Kodu’s career stood as a testament to overcoming adversity. Born with dwarfism, he transformed societal mockery into artistic fuel, developing a distinctive comedic style that resonated across generations.
